Three lectures deal with fluvial processes and hydraulics with a special emphasis on aquatic habitats, three lectures deal with designing pools and riffles, meanders, and fish passage works. The final lectures illustrate the application of HEC-RAS, CHUTE and FishXing programs as they apply to two trout and salmon project designs.
All lecture materials are contained in a 200+ page project case book with 14 completed inland and coastal stream and river projects. An attached CD contains the design programs and the sample project files.
The course is designed for those with an interest in stream restoration, design, and monitoring. Participants will receive instruction in fluvial hydrology, ecological considerations, restoration design and technical details, and aquatic monitoring and assessment. The course will be a combination of lecture and field components.
