2008 IT Security Professional Development Day.
The High Tech Crime Investigation Association (HTCIA), Atlantic Canada Chapter, is holding its 2008 IT Security Professional Development Day on Tuesday, September 30 th, 2008 at the Delta Fredericton, 225 Woodstock Ro May 6, 2008 ong>Theme:
Securing your Data: Protecting your Future... Without trust in technology and trust in the privacy of data the world at large will never fully embrace our computing efforts. Development of trust starts with education and this professional development day will be a premier education event. HTCIA strives to promote a this safe computing environment as part or our base operating principles and through IT education for all.

Goals:
The goal of this event is to educate IT professionals and others with an interest in IT privacy and security related topics. This event will provide all IT practitioners with a much better understanding of the tools and products, best practices, and emerging issues in the IT security field.

  • If you work with IT, but not in the IT security group, this is a great opportunity to learn about the privacy and security environment.
  • If you are part of IT Security, this is your opportunity to learn even more and to encourage your IT peers in other fields to attend and improve their understanding of privacy and security.

Who should attend:
This event will be of particular interest to:

  • Technical specialists from Governments, Crown Agencies, or Not for Profits
  • Technical specialists from companies using IT
  • Companies offering products or services in the IT Security Field
  • Others with interest in the IT Security field such as Police forces, Lawyers, or Research Organizations
  • Chartered Accountants, Auditors, etc.
  • Educators
  • HTCIA members

 

Format:
The day will feature:

  • Keynotes talks (3)
  • Individual presentations covering a variety of security topics (15)
  • Vendor booths
  • A public forum on Internet Safety (Tuesday evening 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, no charge) that is aimed at families in particular but should be of interest to all computer users.

Host:
The HTCIA is an international not for profit organization that focuses on providing business advocacy for high tech security. Members of the Atlantic Canada HTCIA chapter include high tech security professionals from industry and law enforcement. These individuals are involved in the protection and management of technology and data. This often leads to the investigation and/or prosecution of criminal activity, associated with computers and other advanced technologies.
