Delta Fredericton Hotel
As part of PST2008 we will be hosting the second annual Atlantic Privacy & Security Summit on Wednesday, October 1. As Atlantic Canada moves toward implementing more Electronic Medical Records (EMRs), Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and Personal Health Records (PHRs) we can learn from what has already been done elsewhere in Canada and abroad taking advantage of lessons learned and forwarding the eHealth paradigm into a new age. This is an opportunity to show the world that Atlantic Canada can be creative and innovative in sharing health information electronically both privately and effectively.
The Summit will examine many of the pressing issues related to health information sharing from a medical, legal, social, policy, technical and research perspective. It will look at the benefits of increased information sharing among all players in the healthcare system including the individual citizen. The Summit will also examine some of the risks associated with electronic records and increased information sharing well as the tools and best practices available to mitigate these risks. Finally the Summit will identify the knowledge and research gaps and as well as the opportunities for collaboration that these challenges present.
