Joint iTrust and PST Conferences on Privacy, Trust Management and Security

Tutorials

iTrust-PST 2007 Tutorials should introduce attendees to major and significant topics on Privacy, Security and Trust Management addressed by the iTrust-PST 2007 conference.Tutorials should survey, explain and discuss research works and projects, industrial products and markets, or governmental frameworks and policies. They should allow members of the community to interactively gain specialist knowledge or skills, discover new paradigms or problematics through motivated examples, compare existing approaches and concepts, and possibly put them in practice. Tutorials should cover a varied range of issues and not be used to promote a single research approach or a product.

Enterprise Log Management with Q1 Labs QRadar and OSSEC
Andrew Hay (Integration Team Lead, Q1 Labs Inc) and Daniel Cid (OSSEC Founder / Software Engineer, Q1 Labs Inc)
Duration: 45 minutes (30 minutes presenting / 15 Q&A)
Description:
This presentation will provide a highly technical overview of log
analysis and how it can be used as a powerful intrusion detection
method. We will explain how to extract logs from multiple sources and
analyze using both commercial and free open source products, Q1 Labs
QRadar and OSSEC respectively. The reduction of log noise and false
positives will also be covered to show how real attacks and policy
violations can be mitigated using specialized products in conjunction
with proper log analysis techniques.
