Costs and Fees

The following costs and fees are for one academic year beginning, September 1, 2009 to April 30, 2010. One academic year is equivalent to two academic semesters. Students are required to pay tuition & fees at the beginning of each semester. Refer to the Financial Services website for fee payment deadlines.

Note for Engineering students: UNB Saint John full-time Engineering students are required to pay an additional Engineering Program Fee of $500 per academic semester. UNB Fredericton full-time Engineering students are required to pay an additional Engineering Program Fee of $600 per academic semester.

Methods of Tuition & Residence Payment

International students who do not have a Canadian bank account for on-line or telephone banking may use wire transfers, money orders, or bank certified cheques to pay tuition and residence fees.

Credit cards are not accepted to pay tuition & residence fees at UNB. Credit cards from most countries are accepted for application fees, confirmation fees, and residence deposits only.

Fee Payment Before Arrival

Students are not required to pay tuition & residence fees until arrival on campus, however, students have the option to send fee payment to UNB prior to arriving in Canada. All tuition & residence fee payment sent to UNB will be held in the student’s account until arrival on campus.

Bank Wire: Students may use bank wire transfer of funds to pay tuition. Please be sure to include the student’s name and one of the following: UNB Student ID Number, Customer and/or Invoice Number and student date of birth. Fee Payment After Arrival

International students can pay tuition & residence fees when they arrive on campus. At UNB Saint John, students can pay their fees at the Financial Services Office in Oland Hall (Room 137). At UNB Fredericton, students can pay their fees at the Student Accounts & Receivable Services Office in the IUC Physics & Administration Building.

Entrance Scholarships

UNB does offer scholarships in increments of $500, $1000 and $1500 CDN. These one-time entrance scholarships are for 1st year students applying directly from high school and are based on academic performance. Students are not required to complete any additional forms to receive an entrance scholarship; these scholarships are applied for automatically upon receipt of application to a UNB program.

These guaranteed entrance scholarships are based on the following criteria:
