UNB News Release: 09-100
Natasha St. Pierre, Communication Officer (506) 458-7969
In August 2008, the faculty of education at UNB inaugurated a new 11- month bachelor of education program. Developed through extensive consultation with partners in the education sector, the new program closely integrates university course work and in-school experiences for teacher education students.
The 150 students from the first class of the new program will be profiling some of their work at a senior conference to take place at Marshall d’Avray Hall, July 15-17. The conference will begin with a poster session on the afternoon of July 15 followed by a keynote lecture given that evening by Dr. Rosemary Foster from the University of Alberta entitled Teacher Education in Canada: State of the Art and Beyond.
Presentations of the students’ senior projects will take place July 16 and the morning of July 17. Projects will cover a full range of areas including curriculum development, policy issues and professional development.
The public is welcome to attend all aspects of the conference. More information can be found at www.unbf.ca/education/index.html , or by contacting Alan Sears at asears@unb.ca, or 453-5178.
