Money Matters

Investing in your future

Renea Sleep, a UNB Financial Aid and Awards Advisor, speaks with students.

Your university education is the most important financial investment you'll ever make.

It's an investment in yourself and your future. Your time at the University of New Brunswick will help enrich your life and launch your professional career after your studies.

Recent studies have shown that earning a bachelor's degree is worth nearly $750,000 more than high school diploma over the course of a career.

An affordable education

University costs include tuition, fees, books and living expenses if you are living away from home.

UNB's tuition costs are some of the lowest in the Maritimes at $6,007 a year for most programs.

Your tuition and fees help ensure UNB offers a high quality education with the program options you want.

You will also find savings when comparing living costs in Fredericton or Saint John versus other cities in Canada. These are important factors when considering the overall cost of attending university.

Scholarships, bursaries & loans

To offset some of the costs of a university education, UNB offers more than $4 million per year in scholarships, creates part-time and summer jobs for UNB students, offers budgeting and financial aid advice, and guides you through the government loan process.

Figuring out how to pay for your university education can seem daunting, but it's far from impossible. UNB offers a wide range of scholarships and awards designed to help you pay for your studies. All students who have been admitted to a UNB degree program on the basis of their high school marks and have Scholarship Averages of 80% or higher are guaranteed at least $500 in scholarship support.

However, a higher Scholarship Average may result in a higher scholarship offer. UNB scholarships for high school students range from $500 to $50,00. In addition there are provincial and federal student loan programs that can also help you raise the remaining funds you need for school.

Make money while you study

You can earn money while you're at university by taking a co-op or work-study program, or an internship. There are also part-time and summer employment opportunities.

Helping you succeed

We want to make it as easy as possible for you to attend university. Our financial aid offices in Fredericton and Saint John can help you understand your costs, identify different funding options and even develop a budget.
