Disruption in a changing industry

Just as wireless technology has transformed the telecommunications industry, additive manufacturing is expected to revolutionize marine manufacturing in Canada.

As the profitability and competitiveness of once-popular methods of fabrication decrease to the point of being unsustainable, Canada’s manufacturing industry must stay current to ever-changing fabrication equipment and methods to survive and grow.

Join the Marine Additive Manufacturing Centre of Excellence

We are Canada's first 3D metal printing centre of excellence dedicated to research and development, commercialization and workforce development and training.

We provide access to experts in the field of 3D metal printing, as well as cutting-edge commercial 3D metal printers. The centre is an incubator for new commercial product development, allowing industry to avoid the financial burden of buying equipment before finalizing a part or product.

Initial industry partners include Lockheed Martin and Irving Shipbuilding Inc.

Our partners have:

  • Interests in the greater marine industry, naval technology, marine manufacturing and 3D metal printing.
  • Contribute to research projects that will advance the adoption of additive manufacturing in Canada in the marine sector.
  • An interest in the success of the centre, and the Canadian manufacturing sector.

Why be a partner?

  • Priority access to a vast collection of relevant research
  • Access to experts in the associated fields relating to additive manufacturing
  • Postgraduate level research teams
  • Participation in part certification programs
  • The opportunity to leverage funding through IRB / ITB credits
  • Potential for contract research projects, and for those projects to be eligible for scientific research and experimental development investment tax credits
  • Recognition as an industry funding member in all publications and media materials
  • Access to rapid prototyping for testing and validation
