Bargaining Updates

September 5, 2013

Both the University and its Contract Academic Employees have successfully completed negotiations and both parties have ratified a new collective agreement.  A formal signing ceremony to sign the new collective agreement will be held in the near future.

Negotiations with the Full-Time table are now in conciliation.  The first formal date was held on September 4, 2013.  Progress was made on resolving a couple of outstanding items.  There are several dates scheduled throughout September and October.

July 29, 2013

The University and its Contract Academic Employees have reached a tentative agreement which is now in the ratification process.

Negotiations with the Full-Time Table are now going into conciliation, with a preliminary meeting with the Conciliation Officer scheduled for July 31, 2013.

July 4, 2013

Negotiations with the Contract Academic Employees’ (CAE) unit of the Association of University of New Brunswick Teachers (AUNBT) will move into the conciliation phase on July 10, 11 and 12, 2013.

Negotiations with the full-time unit of the AUNBT are ongoing with several dates booked throughout July.  Both parties have now exchanged all non-monetary language.  Financial proposals were exchanged on June 5.  Talks continue.

June 7, 2013

Negotiations have continued this week with the Association of University of New Brunswick Teachers (AUNBT) at both the Contract Academic Employees (CAE) Table and the Full-Time Table. At the CAE Table, the parties met for two bargaining sessions this week. Having made as much progress at the bargaining table as was possible, the parties agreed to jointly file a request for appointment of a conciliator yesterday afternoon, in an attempt to resolve all outstanding issues. For further information on the conciliation process, please refer to the FAQ section. At the Full-Time table, the parties met twice this week and are scheduled to meet again next week.

Negotiations resume with the AUNBT the week of June 3 at both the Contract Academic Employees table and the full-time table.

Talks continued with the Association of University of New Brunswick Teachers (AUNBT) at the Contract Academic Employees (CAE) table with two sessions this week.  The parties have adjourned to permit consultation.  Negotiations resume next week at the AUNBT full-time table with several days scheduled.

April 26, 2013

Negotiations have continued with the Association of University of New Brunswick Teachers at both the Contract Academic Employees (CAE) table and the Full-Time table.  Further sessions of the CAE table are scheduled next week while the Full-Time table resumes on May 6, 2013. 

April 12, 2013

Negotiations were ongoing this week with the Association of University of New Brunswick Teachers with two meetings of the full-time table and one meeting of the Contract Academic Employees (CAE) table.  Four sessions are scheduled next week at the CAE table. 

April 11, 2013

On April 9, 2013 the University received Notice To Bargain from the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) in respect of the newly certified Professional and Technical Staff Union (PTSU). No dates have yet been scheduled to commence negotiations.

April 10, 2013

UNB is currently engaged in collective bargaining with two unions.  Notice to bargain was served by the AUNBT with respect to the AUNBT Group 2 (contract academic employees) on February 1, 2013 and Group 1 (full-time) on April 1, 2013.  The UGSW-PSAC gave notice on February 15, 2013.  AUNBT and UNB have met several times so far and have future dates scheduled. USGW-PSAC and UNB do not have dates scheduled but will be begin in the near future. February 22, 2013

Negotiations have officially begun for two units on campus.  Notice to bargain was served by the AUNBT with respect to the AUNBT Group 2 (contract academic employees) on February 1 and by the UGSW-PSAC on February 15.

AUNBT and UNB have met a couple of times so far and have future dates scheduled.

USGW-PSAC and UNB do not have dates scheduled but will be begin in the near future.

Welcome to the first collective bargaining update.  Bargaining has not officially started, but preparations have been ongoing for some time.  UNB’s bargaining teams have been constituted, have engaged in training and are holding preparation meetings.
