UNB Virtual Lab

Get out of the lab. It’s time to get comfy.

UNB Virtual Lab allows students to easily access the specialized software you need for your course work directly from your own devices rather than having to work from a UNB lab computer.

Getting started

To begin using Virtual Lab, simply follow the setup instructions for your device:

Available software

The following programs are currently available through Virtual Lab:

  • ArcGIS
  • SPSS
  • Geomatica
  • Minitab

More software will be added to Virtual Lab as this service grows in the years to come.

How does Virtual Lab work?

Whether you’re at the library, a favourite coffee shop, or in the comfort of your own home, Virtual Lab gives you the flexibility of accessing UNB licensed software from anywhere, on your own devices.

The software available in Virtual Lab works the same way as it does from any lab computer on campus; the only difference is that instead of having to install the software directly onto your device, you can access it easily and securely through your myUNB Portal or an app on your phone or tablet.

Due to licensing limitations, currently only 75 users are able to use Virtual Lab at the same; however, this number will grow over time as Virtual Lab is expanded.

Who has access to Virtual Lab?

All UNB students (undergraduate, graduate, part-time and full-time) have access to UNB Virtual lab.

Why do I have a ‘UNBVirtualLab’ folder in my H drive?

This UNBVirtualLab folder, as well as the folders contained within it (named Documents, Downloads and Desktop) are necessary as part of UNB Virtual Lab.

Please do not delete, rename or make any changes to any of these folders. Doing so may cause issues when trying to access Virtual Lab.
