Installing the VPN Client
Once the client has been installed, you will no longer need to follow these instructions as the Junos Pulse client can be launched directly from your Desktop.
Instructions
- First, please un-install the previous client, Network Connect, if you have not already done so.
- Download the Junos Pulse VPN client for from the ITS Download Free Software website.
- Click ‘Run’.
- You will see a welcome screen, click ‘next’ to begin the installation.
- Select ‘Typical’ and click ‘next’.
- The wizard is ready to begin. Click ‘install’, the installation process will begin.
- When complete you will see the wizard completion screen and the option to launch Junos Pulse. Click ‘Finish’.
- You will need to restart your machine for changes to take effect.
- After restarting your machine, open Junos Pulse. You will need to create a connection to begin using the VPN client.
- Click the plus (+) icon located in the orange bar.
- Fill out UNB VPN in the name field and type http://vpn.unb.ca into the Server URL field. Click ‘Connect’.
- Fill out your User ID and UNB password.
- If prompted to upgrade, please complete the download by clicking ‘Upgrade’.
- If your login was successful, you will see a green checkmark in the connections window. Junos Pulse will remember your connection information for future sessions, to connect simply click the 'Connect' button next to UNB VPN.
- To disconnect the client, click ‘Disconnect’ in the connections window.

Running Junos Pulse after installation
Once the client has been installed it is no longer necessary to follow the above instructions each time you wish to connect to the VPN. Instead, simply follow the instructions below.
- Right click the Junos Pulse icon in the task bar, then click Open Pulse.
- Click Connect next to the UNB VPN connection.
- Enter your UNB Login ID and Password and click Connect. You will then have a secure connection to the UNB network.
Uninstalling Network Connect
- Click on ‘Start’.
- Select ‘Control Panel’.
- Click ‘Programs’ or ‘Uninstall programs’.
- Click on ‘Network Connect’.
- Select ‘Uninstall’.
