Using myFiles
How to:
- access myFiles
- create a new directory
- create a new text file
- upload a document
- download a file to your computer
- delete a file
- navigate through myFiles
To access myFiles:
Login to the myUNB portal and you will see an icon in the Quick Launch called ‘MyFiles’. Once you are logged in you will have access to both your personal drive and your departmental drive (labelled as 'departmental_drive' in the MyFiles root menu).

As you are navigating the MyFiles interface use the red left-facing arrow to get back to the previous screen. Click the green checkmark to confirm changes you are making.
To create a new directory using MyFiles:
Click ‘New Dir’ and type in a name in the ‘New Directory Name’ field. You have the option of creating five directories at once. Click the green checkmark to submit.
To create a new text file:
Click ‘New File’. This will open up a screen where you can type in the text of your document. You will be required to provide a file name. When done click the floppy disc icon to save your file.
To upload a document:
Click the ‘Upload’ button. You will need to specify the folder in which to upload the file, click the list button. This will open a pop-up window that will list all the folders.
You then have two options for uploading:
Option One:
Uploading single files:
Click Browse under ‘Files’. It will open up your computer and you can find the file you wish to upload. To upload another file, click ‘Add Another’.
Option Two:
Uploading a zip/tar/tgz/gz files:
Click Browse under ‘Archives’. It will open up your computer and you can find the file you wish to upload. To upload another bulk file, click ‘Add Another’.
When finished click the green checkmark to confirm.

To download a file to your computer:
Click on the filename and it will prompt you to download the file to your computer.
To delete a file:
Select the file by clicking the checkbox under ‘All’ then click the ‘Delete’ button. It will ask you if you are sure you want to delete the file, click the green checkmark to confirm.
To navigate through MyFiles:
When you click on a folder name it will take you into that folder so you can see the files that are within it. If you want to go back a level (to the previous screen), click the work ‘Up’ at the top of the list or you can click the list button along the top of the window.
