Installing the VPN Client

Once the client has been installed, you will no longer need to follow these instructions as the Junos Pulse client can be launched directly from your Applications folder.


  1. First, un-install the previous VPN client, Network Connect, if you have not already done so.
  2. Download the Junos Pulse VPN client from the ITS Download Free Software website.
  3. Navigate to the downloads folder using your finder window, then double-click on junospulse.dmg.
  4. Right-click (or hold the Control key) on JunosPulse.pkg and choose ‘Open’.
  5. The Junos Pulse installer screen will appear, click ‘Continue’.

  6. Select ‘Install’.
  7. Enter your administrative password for the machine. If you are using a UNB-owned machine this will be your UNB password. Select ‘Install Software’.
  8. If the install was successful you will receive the following message: 'The installation was successful'. Click ‘Close’.

  9. You will find Junos Pulse in your applications folder.
  10. Before you can begin using the VPN you must first setup your connection. Open Junos Pulse and click the plus (+) icon in the connections window.

  11. Fill out UNB VPN in the name field and type in in the Server URL line. Click ‘Add’.

  12. If prompted to upgrade, please complete the download by clicking ‘Upgrade’.
  13. Click the orange connect button in your connection screen.

  14. Enter your UNB login ID and password.

  15. Click ‘Connect’.
  16. When you are connected to the network via the VPN you will see ‘connected’ underneath UNB VPN in the connections window.  Junos Pulse will remember your connection information for future sessions. To connect, simply click the 'Connect' button next to UNB VPN.

  17. To disconnect from the VPN, click the disconnect button in the connections window.

Running Junos Pulse after installation

Once the client has been installed it is no longer necessary to follow the above instructions each time you wish to connect to the VPN. Instead, simply do the following:

  1. Click the Junos Pulse icon in the menu bar at the top of the screen, then click Open Junos Pulse.

  2. Click Connect next to the UNB VPN connection.

  3. Enter your UNB Login ID and Password and click Connect. You will then have a secure connection to the UNB network.

Uninstall Network Connect

  1. Open Network Connect in your Applications folder. (Finder > Applications)
  2. In the Apple bar, click on ‘Network Connect
    Select netowrk connect next to the apple icon and click uninstall network connect
  3. Select ‘Uninstall Network Connect
  4. Empty your trash bin
