Hardware Recommendations

UNB Information Technology Services recommends a system that meets or exceeds the following specifications for students purchasing a new computer. These recommendations are for computers running either Windows or Mac OS.

Note: Some software applications may be available for purchase at reduced educational rates from the UNB Bookstore.

Mac or PC	Desktops & Notebooks
Processor	Current Intel or AMD processor
Memory	3 GB RAM
Hard Drive	120 GB
DVD-ROM Drive	8X DVD-RW
Graphics	Video card with 128MB memory or integrated graphics card
Monitor	17" flat panel monitor (optional for notebooks)
Operating System	Windows 7 Home Premium (or) MacOS X 10.x
Networking and Communications	For Resnet Use- Ethernet Adapter Notebooks: For on-campus wireless use: 802.11g* or 802.11b internal wireless card (*802.11g is preferred). For information on Wireless Coverage on UNB Campus, please refer to the Wireless Availability webpage. For other off-campus use - check with your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for Ethernet or modem requirements.
