History of ITS
Established in 1964, the Computing Centre (ITS) of UNB has played a leadership role in the advancement of technology within UNB, New Brunswick, and the Atlantic Region.
Highlights:
1968 - Supported by UNB’s advanced technology, UNB established the first Department of Computer Science in Canada, offering the Master of Computer Science degree through Electrical Engineering.
1970 - In an innovative pilot project, UNB established the first regional ‘network’ in the country.
1984 - UNB was the first university in Canada to provide students with an email address.
1993 - UNB was the first university in Canada to officially host a ‘comprehensive’ university website: www.unb.ca.
