You have been accepted to UNB

Now you need a study visa.

What is a study permit/study visa?

These terms refer to the same document.

All international students must obtain a study permit/study visa outside of Canada before they can enter Canada to study.

How do I apply for a study permit/study visa?

You must apply for a study permit/study visa as soon as possible after you have received a letter of admission or a letter of conditional admission from UNB. This is why it is important to send your UNB application and supporting documents as early as possible.

You can apply for your study permit/study visa at Canadian Visa offices, which are usually located at Canadian embassies or consulates throughout the world. To locate the Canadian embassy or consulate closest to you, please visit their website.

In order to obtain your study permit/study visa, you must:

  • show your letter of admission or your letter of conditional admission from UNB;
  • be in good health and character;
  • demonstrate sufficient funds to live and study in Canada (including funds for return transportation);
  • have a valid passport.

These government rules are subject to change at any time and without notice. Students should only follow the instructions provided by the Canadian government. For more information visit their website.
