Application package checklist

To avoid delays in the processing of your application, please note the following:

  • Verify that the name on your application matches the name on your transcripts and the name that will appear on your passport.
  • Make sure you provide your permanent home address in your home country.
  • Make sure to provide your date of birth on the application.

In just a matter of minutes, you can apply and begin your UNB experience.

  1. Complete the online application or print and complete the application form.
  2. Submit official or notarized transcripts/grades for ALL secondary or high school, colleges, and universities you have attended. If your transcripts are not in English, send a copy of the original transcript and provide a certified translation. 

    Please note: All applicants MUST disclose any prior attendance at a university or other post-secondary institution in Canada or abroad, regardless of whether they are seeking transfer credit. Failure to disclose this information may result in a rejection of the student’s application or subsequent suspension from UNB.
     
  3. If it applies, submit the results from any academic tests you have taken, such as SAT, ACT, Cambridge ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels, CXC or others.
  4. If you are applying for direct admission to an undergraduate program at UNB, submit your English language proficiency test score.

Direct admission (you do not require English language training)

If you are applying for direct admission to an undergraduate program at UNB, you must submit an English Language Proficiency test score. UNB will accept an official test result from this list of standardized tests:

  • TOEFL iBT
  • TOEFL (paper-based)
  • TOEFL (computer-based)
  • IELTS
  • MELAB
  • CAEL
  • CanTest

Applicants are NOT REQUIRED to submit a test of English Language Proficiency result if:

  • You have studied in a high school in Canada for a minimum of one year and have achieved a minimum of 70% in Grade 12 English ENG4U/EAE4U (or an equivalent course).
  • You have studied in an English language school system for a minimum of three years and can offer one of the following tests or qualifications: 
    • International Baccalaureate English A1 or A2 Higher Level passed with minimum grade 4.
    • GCE A Level English/English Language with minimum grade of C

Conditional admission (you may require English language training)

You may be granted conditional admission to certain undergraduate programs without submitting an English language proficiency test score. Learn more about UNB's English language proficiency policy.

Mature students (21 years or older)

UNB considers you a mature student if you are 21 years of age or older.  Résumé of your work experience and all education courses you were enrolled in since graduation from high school/secondary school.

Transfer students

If you are applying to transfer from a post-secondary institution to UNB, you must submit course outlines to be assessed for credit transfer. All course outlines must be provided in English.

A course outline (also know as a syllabus) is a document that typically provides a detailed summary of topics to be covered in a course, titles of reading materials, and the grading policy. Professors generally distribute course outlines to students during the first week of class.

Application fee

Once you have all these steps done submit a $60.00 CDN nonrefundable application fee by:

  • Credit card
  • Bank draft or certified cheque made payable to the University of New Brunswick
  • Money order through a Canadian banking institution

Applications cannot be processed until this fee is paid.
