Country-specific requirements

The University of New Brunswick accepts qualified applicants from all countries.

The list below includes the countries from which we receive the most inquiries. Please email us if you have studied in a country that is not listed below, or if you have studied a curriculum that is not indicated here.

Note that meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to any program.

Course requirements

Algeria: Baccalaureate de l'Enseignment Secondaire, grades of 14 or above.

Argentina: Titulo de Bachiller grades of 6 and above.

Aruba: Hoger Algemeen Voortgezet Onderwijs (HAVO) diploma, with grades of at least 8.

Austria: Reifeprufung/Matura grades of 1 or 2.

Bahamas: Bahamas General Certificate of Education (BGCSE) or General Certificate of Education (GCE) O level grades of A and B.

Bangladesh: Higher Secondary School Certificate grades of 60% or above.

Barbados: Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE); minimum of 3 CAPE level subjects including pure math for programs requiring pre-calculus., grades of A and B/III

Bermuda: Bermuda Secondary School Certificate grades of B or above.

Bhutan: Bhutan Higher Secondary Certificate Of Education/Indian School Certificate Class X11 grades of 60% or above.

Botswana: General Certificate of Education (GCE) grades of A or B, or Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education.

Brazil: Certificado de Ensino Medio grades of 7 or above.

Brunei: General Certificate of Education (GCE) grades of A or B.

Cameroon: General Certificate of Secondary Education, minimum grades of A or B. Baccalaureate grade of 12 and above.

Cayman Islands: Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE); minimum of 3 CAPE level subjects including pure math for programs requiring pre-calculus., grades of A and B/III

Chile: Licencia de Educacion Media grades of 5 or above.

China: Senior Middle Two and Three results as well as a graduation certificate. Students may also be asked to report scores from the National College Entrance Examination grades of 70% or above.

Colombia: Titulo de Bachiller Academico grades of 7 or above.

Costa Rica: Bachiller en la Ensenanza Media, with grades of 70% or above.

Dominican Republic: Bachillerato, minimum grade required is 80%.

Ecuador: Bachillerato grades of 15 or above.

Egypt: Certificate Of Secondary Education grades of 70% or above.

Ethiopia: Ethiopian Higher Education Entrance Qualification Certificate grades of 80% or above. Ethiopian School Leaving Certificate, minimum grades of B.

Ghana: Senior Secondary School Certificate grades of 1–2 or A and B. OR West African Senior Secondary School Certificate grades of A1–B4.

Guatemala: Bachillerato, with grades of 70% or above.

Honduras: Bachillerato, grades of 80% or 4.

Hong Kong: Hong Kong Certificate Of Education: grades of A and B.

India: Indian School Certificate Examination, Intermediate Certificate, Higher Secondary School Certificate or All India Senior School Certificate grades of 60% or higher OR General Certificate of Education (GCE).

Indonesia: Surat Tanda Tarnat Belajar Sekolah Menengah Umum Tingkat Asas (STTB-SMA)/ Certificate of Completion Academic Secondary School grades of 8 or above.

Iran: Official copies of High School and Pre-university transcripts. The minimum required grade for entrance is 14.

Ireland: Leaving Certificate at Ordinary/Standard Level grades of B3 and above.

Jamaica: Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE); minimum of 3 CAPE level subjects including pure math for programs requiring pre-calculus, grades of A and B/III.

Japan: Upper Secondary School Leaving Certificate with minimum grades of 4.

Kazakhstan: Certificate of Completed Secondary Education, with grades of 4 or above.

Kenya: Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education grades of B or above

Korea: Senior High School Diploma grades of 4 or above.

Kuwait: General Secondary Education Certificate with grades of A or B.

Lebanon: Baccalaureat – General with minimum grades of 14.

Liberia: Senior High School Certificate grades of 80% or above.

Libya: Secondary Education Certificate grades of 70% or above.

Malaysia: Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia/SPM plus minimum 3 qualifying subjects in the pre-university program or 3 qualifying STMP (pre-university examination) subjects (including math for programs requiring pre-calculus), grades of 1-4 or A/B.

Mauritius: General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) plus minimum 3 qualifying Advanced Subsidiary (AS) level courses (including math for programs requiring pre-calculus), with grades of A or B.

Mexico: Diploma de Bachiller grades of 8.

Morocco: Baccalaureate grades of 12 or above.

Nepal: Higher Secondary Certificate grades of 60% and above.

Nigeria: West African Senior School Certification Examination (WASSCE) with grades of A and B/C4; further Math required for programs requiring pre-calculus.

Pakistan: Higher Secondary Certificate grades of 60%.

Panama: Bachillerato/High school graduation diploma. Minimum grade required is 3.5 on Bachillerato.

Peru: Certificado de Educacion Secundaria Comun Completa grades of 14 or above.

Puerto Rico: Applicants who have completed Grade 12 of an accredited high school program must satisfy UNB's minimum program-specific requirements (minimum B average). Criteria such as academic standing, rank in class, and SAT scores may also be used to determine a candidate’s admissibility.

Philippines: High School Diploma (1.00–2.00) and one year of academic post-secondary studies with grades of A and B.

Poland: Swiadectwo Ukonczenia Lyceum Ogolnoksztalcacego grades of 4 or above.

Qatar: General Secondary Certificate/Al-Thanaways Al-Amma grades of 70% or higher.

Russia: Certificate of Complete General Education/Unified State Examination grades 4 or 5.

Saudi Arabia: Tawjihiyah Certificate/General Secondary Certificate with a minimum grade of 70%.

Singapore: Singapore Cambridge 'O' Levels: grades of A and B.

South Africa: Senior Certificate grades of A and B or 60% and above.

Sri Lanka: Sri Lankan General Certificate of Education grades of A and B.

St. Lucia: Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE); minimum of 3 CAPE level subjects including pure math for programs requiring pre-calculus., grades of A and B/III.

Taiwan: Senior High School Leaving Certificate with grades of A or B.

Tanzania: General Certificate of Education (GCE) with O Level grades of A and B.

Togo: Diplome de Bachelier de L'Enseignement du Troisieme Degre/Certificate of General Secondary Education grades of 12 or above.

Trinidad & Tobago: Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE); minimum of 3 CAPE level subjects including pure math for programs requiring pre-calculus., grades of A and B/III.

Turkey: Devlet Lise Diplomasi, grades of 4 (70%) or above.

United Kingdom: General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) plus minimum 3 qualifying Advanced Subsidiary (AS) level courses (including math for programs requiring pre-calculus), with grades of A or B.

USA: General Certificate of Secondary Education with grades of A or B. Applicants who have completed Grade 12 of an accredited high school program must satisfy UNB's minimum program-specific requirements (minimum B average). Criteria such as academic standing, rank in class and SAT scores may also be used to determine a candidates admissibility. ACT scores are not required.

Uganda: Uganda Certificate of Education grades of 1–4.

Venezuela: Titulo de Bachiller grades of 13 and above or the equivalent.

Vietnam: Upper Secondary School Graduation Certificate with grades of 6 or above.

Zambia: General Certificate of Education (GCE) with grades of B.
