Professional Science Certificate

A minimum 10-topic modular certificate program will provide training in professional science skills.  This is a new certificate program and more information on courses and timing will be updated as the certificate develops.

Students/participants will complete the modules over the tenure of their graduate studies (i.e., they will not have to be taken in order), and non-WATER participants may take each module over a period or 2-3 years.

Each module will have a lecture, an interactive, and an assignment component. All modules will be video-linked OR set up as online courses, between institutions to accommodate distance and support a high degree of interactivity among participants and instructors; instructors will be drawn from collaborators and contract lecturers skilled in specific aspects.  Moodle is an online learning management system that the CRI is using to accommodate these modules.

There will be multiple skills targeted in 3 key sections:
a. Communications: effective proposal writing; effective report writing, scientific language in writing, effective communication and presentation, media skills
