Integrated Forum - 'Applied Solutions to Environmental Crises'
This will be a pivotal integrated one semester forum course that all full WATER participants will complete. This problem-based learning module will challenge participants to collaboratively address a current environmental issue/crisis and, upon completion, have the opportunity and ability to reflect on their experiences.
This pedagogical method has been used extensively and successfully to provide students with a process of self-directed learning that will foster the development of skills such as communication, critical thinking, and problem solving while addressing many issues from science to policy to ethics.
Post-doctoral fellows may be involved as facilitators and mentor the students in progressing through the issue and project development over the academic year. Guest speakers will include emeritus professors and industry and government collaborators who would communicate to the groups about various aspects of the "crises" that have been posed that year, depending on their area of expertise.
