What is SHAD?
SHAD is an exciting summer program designed especially for top students in Canada. The focus of the program is in three main areas:
- Excellence and Leadership
- Science and Technology
SHAD takes these three elements and combines them to form a challenging, exciting and educational experience.
SHAD is a program administered by SHAD International. Working in partnership with business, education and other communities, SHAD International is dedicated to the advancement of scientific and technological capabilities of youth, integrated with the development of their entrepreneurial spirit. SHAD is an award winning partnership involving twelve host universities as well as hundreds of schools, students, companies and countless other organizations. The program has more than 14,000 alumni across Canada and around the world.
Who is eligible to participate?
SHAD is intended for outstanding students in grades 10, 11 and 12. Many students will have volunteer work terms with sponsoring organizations for the rest of the summer.
Where in the world is SHAD?
SHAD is hosted at 12 Canadian Universities each summer. The University of New Brunswick is proud to be one of the host campuses. While the SHADs attend the program at UNB they will be staying in one of our residences. The lectures, workshops and guest speakers are located on campus. There are exciting tours and field trips scheduled for local and provincial sites.
When is SHAD?
The SHAD 2016 program is Sunday, July 3 to Friday, July 29. Many of the SHADs will then return to their sponsors to complete volunteer internships with their partnering organization for the rest of the summer.
