Function
Reporting to the Director of Communications and Marketing and with university-wide responsibility the Manager, Marketing Communications will become an integral member of the Advancement team and through supporting the office of Development and Donor Relations and the Alumni office, will play a leadership role in developing and implementing strategic marketing communications plans to support the goals of both the fundraising campaign and alumni engagement plan.
Representative Responsibilities
• Develop, implement and measure marketing communications plans and programs to support the fundraising campaign and alumni engagement plan.
• Manage the production of all marketing communications elements within the marketing communications plans. These will include key vehicles such as the fundraising campaign’s CASE for SUPPORT, all fundraising collateral and marketing communications pieces, the Alumni News magazine, email communications and the website.
• Lead the development of an Alumni Life Cycle model, which has measurable outcomes for each stage.
• Oversee and manage a marketing coordinator.
• Interface with internal marketing services and communications staff to execute plans.
• Work collaboratively with the advancement marketing communications team.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or Communications. Minimum 10 years experience developing, implementing and measuring integrated marketing communications strategies for medium to large sized, complex organizations with a range of stakeholders or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong customer service orientation and the ability to work effectively on cross functional and virtual teams.
• Experience in leading and mentoring successful teams.
• Understand and demonstrate experience in marketing communications, marketing management, direct marketing, marketing research, brand management, and market segmentation.
• Superior content development, copy writing, speech writing and presentation development skills.
• Demonstrated experience with modern marketing tools including social media, digital campaigns and automated marketing solutions. Demonstrated success in agency and vendor selection and management.
• Highly organized, able to prioritize multiple projects effectively and work independently.
• Creative problem solver and strategic thinker with the ability to sell ideas internally throughout the organization as well as externally with vendors.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to derive insight and ideas from data.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively source answers, build relationships, and communications/present information.
• Familiarity with event planning.
• Knowledge of post-secondary systems structures, programs and player is an asset.
• Fundraising experience would be beneficial
• Ability to travel regularly between campuses and to attend events and meetings in the evening and weekends. Some travel required.
