Function

Residential Life, a division within Student Services, contributes to the creation of a campus environment that supports student success and student engagement in both academic pursuits and co-curricular life. As Residence Life Coordinator, this position is responsible for leadership development and training, student developmental programming and services, and administration of community standards, guideline and policies.

Representative Responsibilities
·    Recruit, hire, train, and supervise Educational Proctors, Hall Proctors and Lead Proctors; Responsible for the design and implementation of all leadership training programs; coordinate term reviews; mentor proctors with all in house issues including event planning, conduct, programming, and student support.
·    Remain current with emerging developments, trends, and technologies relevant to post-secondary student development theory and residential life.
·    Manage the smooth transition of operations between student residence and the conference operations in May and at the end of August.
·    Assist the Director in updating residence life documents.
·    Coordinate all residence extensions/early arrival requests.
·    Coordinate the compilation of annual surveys and reviews. Compile list of damages from room inventory forms in September and April and issue all student damage charges.
·    Monitor and track all residence student conduct and support issues.
·    Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the developmentally focused residence life programs.
·    Maintain and implement the Residence Community Development Plan. Meet regularly with House Presidents and Treasurers to track house spending/ensure house ledgers are balanced.
·    Plan and coordinate the Residential Life recognition events.
·    Sit on the Student Events Review Committee to approve student events.

·    Take part in an on-call rotation being available by telephone outside of office hours each day to support on campus staff in urgent/emergency situations.
Requirements
·    Undergraduate degree in a related field with 3 or more years’ of related leadership experience and demonstrated mastery in the following areas; Crisis intervention, Event planning/risk management, Development and implementation of student client-centric programming services; Human Resources development. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
·    Exceptional communication, consensus-building, and negotiation skills.
·    Exceptional written and communication skills to produce critical policy and procedure documents that are comprehensive and readily understood by students.
·    Empathetic listening skills to deal with student and parents/supporters in stressful situations.
·    Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills.
·    Extensive knowledge of student support trends, best-practices and standards.
·    Ability to successfully perceive, navigate and respond appropriately to sensitive issues.
