This position is accountable to the Director (Financial & Administrative Services) and works closely and under the guidance of the HR Consultant.  The main responsibilities include the co-ordination of human resources, benefits and payroll related services for all faculty, staff, and student employees on the Saint John Campus.
Representative Responsibilities
·    Assist Departments with all HR and payroll related inquires pertaining to Saint John campus.
·    Outline all benefits to new faculty and staff and ensure that benefits application forms are properly completed.
·    Respond to inquiries from faculty and staff on supplementary health and dental coverage, as well as all other mandatory benefits and optional benefits.
·    Provide general communication and assistance with the completion of various forms.
·    Respond to short term sick leave inquiries from employees, as well as the departments in which they work. Ensure that proper documentation for the leave is produced.
·    Ensure accuracy of all forms for Student related payments as well as Graduate payments.
·    Respond & investigate any student employment concerns from the student or department with regards to performance issues.
·    Answer HR/Payroll related inquiries and investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies.
·    Work with departments to address leave management issues.
·    Assist departments with inquiries involving employee work performance issues and outlining appropriate course of action.
·    Prepare and verify employment and salary letters for faculty, support staff, term employees, students and financial institutions.
·    Assist with obtaining temporary Medicare equivalency for foreign employees and visiting researchers or fellows.
·    Attend interviews as a contributing member to the hiring committee. Member of Salary Evaluation appeal committee.
·    Will be expected to cross train and be familiar with many of the Financial Services policies and procedures.
·    Ensuring compliance with Privacy Act.
·    Other related duties as required.
·    Undergraduate Degree in Business with a concentration in HR preferred or Human Resources Management Certificate, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a HR Generalist role or equivalent combination of education and experience.
·    CHRP would be considered an asset. University setting in previous employment would be considered an asset.
·    Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
·    Must demonstrate initiative, organizational and time management skills with numerous interruptions and changing priorities.
·    Excellent interpersonal skills to deal and work with a wide range of individuals in an effective and courteous manner in a fast paced/time sensitive environment.
·    High standard of confidentiality and professionalism a must.
·    Excellent computer skills with good working knowledge of office programs and internet technologies. Excel knowledge required.
·    Experience with Colleague would be considered an asset.
