Function

This role provides the leadership, direction and responsibility for UNBF’s classrooms, their support, renewal, and technology infrastructure. This position manages major technical projects intended to create physical learning spaces that are optimized for multiple modes of teaching and a variety of learning styles, leading a highly qualified team of technology professionals, technicians, and classroom support specialists to achieve these objectives.
Representative Responsibilities
·    Operation of the Classroom Technology & Services central point of contact service, and ongoing management of the service, including policies, processes, staffing, tracking and reporting.
·    Applies pedagogical principles to classroom design and technology planning to enhance student learning.
·    Initiation and/or development of policies, plans, technical designs, and projects for the implementation of instructional technology and multimedia support to the teaching, learning and research functions.
·    Management of projects and large initiatives with development of project timelines and tracking systems to manage complex projects.
·    Direct, develop, and support professional and non-professional staff; to plan, project, budget for and maintain the activities of Classroom Technology & services in its diverse operations.
·    Creation of an annual budget for the unit. Monitor and track revenue and expenditures throughout the year against budgeted targets, and develop contingency plans for unexpected events and expenses.
·    Development of project budgets and estimates required to support special funding applications for Non-Space, A&R, Research and other programs.
Requirements
·    Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with eight to ten years’ experience managing a team in a complex environment.
·    Experience working in a post-secondary institution is an asset, providing an understanding of the challenges of this environment.
·    Experience applying appropriate technologies to support and enhance student learning.
·    Strong organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, objectives, and priorities.
·    Proven ability to streamline operations to save money, gain efficiencies, improve effectiveness, and increase client satisfaction.
·    Ability to balance shifting demands and maintain priorities.
·    Capacity to interact constructively with students, faculty, staff, and senior administration as well as with external partners/clients.
·    Strong proposal writing skills as well as the ability to develop in-depth plans and documentation.
·    Persuasive writing skills and a superior ability to write clear and concise reports or proposals.
·    Knowledge of quality assurance and quality control as they apply to an operational and project environment.
·    Demonstrated experience and success at working as a member of a team.
·    Strong computing skills, and the ability to adapt to new technologies quickly.
·    Knowledge of desktop computers, networks, and audiovisual systems.
·    Experience at researching, recommending, and implementing new technologies.
