Function

The counsellor offers a range of counselling services to the students of UNB Saint John and Saint John College. The incumbent will be a member of the Student Services team and is committed to a student-centered service and will offer personal and career counselling.
Representative Responsibilities
• Provide career counselling to individual students and groups.
• Administer a variety of career development related assessments.
• Develop and distribute counselling information and assist in developing and maintaining career resources.
• Provide individual counselling sessions to individual students of UNB Saint John and Saint John College.
• Develop therapeutic interventions for students, especially for those issues that impact learning and academic performance.
• Develop outreach programming to raise awareness of services and programs.
• Liaise with other campus professionals and community agencies.
• Maintain confidential records of activities.
• Provide emergency, crisis intervention services after regular working hours.
• Provide consultation, training, and support to faculty and staff about student concerns as appropriate.
• Participate on university committees and groups as appropriate in support of students and the university.
• Consult, support, and work with other faculty and staff on campus priority projects.
• Participate as a member of the Student Services team on special projects and events.
Requirements
• Masters degree in Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology or Social Work. Assessment courses to administer MBTI, Strong Interest Inventory, and other career development assessments.
• At least five years’ experience in a counselling environment. 
• Experience in and proven knowledge of career development and career counselling. 
• Eligibility for membership in an appropriate professional counselling organization is required. 
• Experience in a post-secondary setting is an asset.
