Function

Perform support for undergraduate courses as well as support for faculty and graduate student research in this department as well as others across campus.
Representative Responsibilities
· Maintain an inventory of departmental equipment and related surveying software. Inventory to include the condition of the equipment and, when necessary, the potential for repair.
· Prepare, coordinate the use of and dispense equipment for instructional labs.
· Assist in the development of instructional lab exercises and materials.
· Provide lab support and instruction for course instructors and graduate teaching assistants.
· Handle routine maintenance and incidental repairs of instrumentation, and make arrangements for extensive repairs or upgrades as required.
· Provide technical support for faculty, staff and students pertaining to the use and care of survey equipment and the accompanying software and/or hardware.
· Provide instruction on the use of equipment and software when required.
· Assist with fieldwork and research as required and by arrangement with the Chair.
· Produce yearly a two-year and five-year plan for equipment repair and replacement.
· Assist in the development and maintenance of health and safety procedures and represent the department in university forums of that nature.
· Other related duties, such as recruitment and outreach as required from time to time by the Chair.
Requirements
· Completion of a recognized Geomatics Engineering Technology Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Experience in surveying, and either formal training or equivalent on-the-job experience with PC-based surveying, GPS, CAD and terrain modelling software is essential.
· Some experience as an equipment stores person is desirable.
· A willingness to work flexible hours occasionally.
