Function

The Writing Centre at UNB Saint John is an important and popular service for students. The Writing Centre assists students in all disciplines and faculties to improve their writing. As a member of the Student Services department, the Writing Centre provides academic support to students in a positive, professional, and student-centred environment.
 
This is a 10 month renewable term position. The incumbent will work September to June each year with varying start and end dates.
Representative Responsibilities
·    Teach academic writing to students at all levels of ability through one on one tutoring of individual students. Instruction focuses on subject research, writing structure, format, academic citation, grammar, punctuation and plagiarism. 
·    Offer presentations in classes, workshops and conferences on approaches to academic writing and strategies for clear, concise written expression.
·    Provide support and guidance to students with exceptional learning requirements.
·    Monitor centre usage, create reports and participate in Student Service departmental initiatives such as orientation, campus open house and other events.
Requirements
·    Master’s degree in a discipline where writing and communication are emphasized is preferred.
·    Two years teaching experience teaching writing to adults.
·    Education and experience level appropriate for this position.
·    Approachable and supportive teaching style.
·    Excellent communication skills.
