Function

The Institute of Biomedical Engineering includes an array of multi-disciplinary faculty, staff and students. Accordingly, the research it conducts encompasses a variety of topics. With a mandate to advance biomedical research and train highly qualified people, the Institute is world renowned for the quality of its research and students. This position is accountable for research and development activities in biomedical engineering. It requires coordination of multiple research and development activities, hardware and software design, support of faculty, and supervision of term project engineers, graduate and undergraduate students.
Representative Responsibilities
·    Responsible for engineering development, project communications and meetings, and support of staff and faculty.  
·    Responsible for coordinating all engineering research that relates to the Atlantic Center for Upper Limb Prosthetics, and must work closely with ACULP staff and patients.
·    Coordinate a large number and variety of staff and students, the research engineers.
·    Essential technical elements include coding, designing and fabricating electronics, conducting experiments and performing statistical data analysis.
·    Work closely with staff and faculty on various aspects of biomedical research and development.
·    Interact with staff, research faculty, students and external stakeholders to ensure smooth running of R&D projects.
·    Provide technical support for associated staff, faculty, and students for engineering aspects of their work.
·    Write professional reports.
·    Conduct demos and provide tours of the Institute.
Requirements
·    University degree in Electrical / Computer Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with strong academic credentials. Related R&D experience in signal processing, digital electronics, computing/networking systems, and mechanical design.
·    Versatile coding capabilities.
·    Demonstrated organizational, administrative, multitasking, and interpersonal skills.
·    Excellent ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
·    Strong written (technical and lay) and oral communication.
·    P.Eng. or eligibility to become a P.Eng.
