Under supervision of HVAC & Refrigeration/Mechanical Supervisor, installs and maintains systems and equipment at the Journeyman level in industrial mechanic/refrigeration trades.
Representative Responsibilities
·    Works as an industrial mechanic or refrigeration mechanic alone or as a member of a crew employed on maintenance and construction. The nature of the work will vary depending on the task but could include working as a mechanic on building mechanical equipment such as compressors, fans, generator sets, air handlers, refrigeration compressors, evaporators and related cooling and freezing equipment. Work may be in or out of doors at heights or in confined spaces and may be in and around moving and electrical equipment with other trades.
·    Welds material not associated with pressure vessels.
·    Works on other Physical Plant mechanical equipment including mobile equipment and fleet as workload demands.
·    May prepare job estimates as to the nature and quantity of materials and labour required.
·    May be required to perform elementary duties of another trade in order to expedite an assigned task.
·    Is responsible for the application for safety precautions as may be required to ensure minimum hazard to self and others. Must be thoroughly familiar with the National Building Code and the New Brunswick Health and Safety Act as they apply to the Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Occupations
·    Is responsible for the care and preservation of assigned tools and equipment.
·    Performs such additional duties as may be required.
·    Formal basic education as required by the New Brunswick Department of Labour to meet Journeyman standards for the Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic occupations.
·    Should possess valid, current licenses to practice the Industrial Mechanic and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Trades. Consideration given to candidates with license in one trade, but with proven experience in other trade. Candidate must be prepared to complete apprenticeship for journeymen’s status in non-licensed trade.
·    Three years or more diversified experience at the Journeyman level in the Industrial Mechanic and/or Refrigeration Air Conditioning Mechanic Trades with concentration on maintenance.
·    The ability to read and interpret drawings and to work from sketches and diagrams. The facility to work with other tradesmen, and versatility in handling and use of tools of the trade.
·    Must have the physical capacity to carry out the functions of the trade including the ability, on occasion, to lift heavy objects, and work from ladders or in cramped quarters.
