Reporting to the Associate Director of Development & Donor Relations, The Annual Giving Manager is accountable for the management of the Annual Giving Office, and all its associated fundraising and donor relations activities to alumni, faculty and staff, students and other constituents as they are identified. The Manager is the key strategist in planning, managing and promoting the annual giving program intended to maximize alumni and donor involvement and commitment to fundraising efforts for the university. They are responsible for the supervision of al1 Annual Giving staff and their associated activities.
Representative Responsibilities
·Set goals, create strategies, and monitor results of all Annual Giving fundraising initiatives.
·Develop, coordinate and manage various regular annual appeals.
·Design and implement a system to measure the overall performance of the Annual Giving programs.
·Develop and execute an electronic fundraising strategy in coordination with the Associated Alumni Office and Marketing & Communications.
·Conceptualize, draft, design, as well as manage the production of all communications pertaining to the above noted annual appeals.
·Work with development staff, university colleagues, and alumni volunteers in the development and implementation of assisted campaigns to help them build their funds, and acknowledge gifts and provide periodic reports on the status of funds.
·Provide direction to the Annual Giving Fundraising Supervisor regarding all plans/communication pertaining to the Phone/Mail Campaign and its various segments.
·Provide direction to the Annual Giving Assistant regarding all aspects of their responsibilities; in particular, the timely and accurate mailing of all annual direct mail and social media efforts.
·Provide direction to the Office Assistants regarding their responsibilities for Annual Giving.
·Provide leadership and make recommendations to the Development and Donor Relations staff on the UNB Saint John campus.
·Establish, implement and maintain procedures for the collection of late pledge payments to ensure timely receipt of all gifts to the University.
·Evaluate performance and discuss future plans and work objectives with each Annual Giving staff on a periodic basis.
·Prepare fundraising reports for various projects and other programs for distribution and presentation including analytics on electronic and new media fundraising.
·Respond in a timely and appropriate manner to donors’ general queries and concerns.
·Provide input into the development of the Annual Giving budget, manage on an on-going basis and authorize expenditures as needed.
·Undergraduate degree with a minimum of five years fundraising experience, preferably in direct mail and call centre programs. Social media fundraising experience would be an asset. (Related relationship management or sales experience will be considered). Ability to work independently with initiative.
·Creative, with excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills. Strong interpersonal and well developed organizational abilities.
·A high level of accountability and sound, mature judgement. The ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
·Team player with the ability to work comfortably in a dynamic environment. Experience working with and motivating staff, volunteers, and student callers.
·Willingness to work some non-traditional hours. Valid driver’s licence.
·Demonstrated computer competence, especially in an automated call centre environment.
