Committed to the highest standards of environmental stewardship, safety, and community service, University of New Brunswick, Fredericton Campus is seeking a Superintendent to manage the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of the Central Heating Plant (CHP) and related steam distribution systems.
Representative Responsibilities
As an overview, this will involve;
   Oversee and conduct the daily administration of all CHP operations.
   Lead supervise and motivate staff
   Manage resources of manpower, tools and materials.
   Maintain electronic and paper records as appropriate.
   Ensure plant equipment and systems are maintained in a highly reliable condition and are operated efficiently.
   Ensure boilers and related equipment operates and is maintained in compliance with various federal, provincial, and municipal acts and regulations.
   Develop and implement short and long term operating, maintenance and capital plans.
   Monitor, evaluate and improve as necessary the environmental performance of the CHP.
   Ensure that all work is conducted in a safe, timely manner.
   Coordinate and lead all the activities of the confined-space team, including ensuring all training and systems are current.
   Coordinate with engineers, consultants, suppliers, contractors, government departments and other related personnel and agencies.
   Ensure that all university policies and procedures are followed. Aid in writing and amending policies and procedures as required.
   Assist the Energy Manager and other staff in the preparation and administration of capital, energy and operating budgets. Performs cost estimates as required.
   Make sound, timely decisions as they pertain to the CHP and steam distribution systems.
   Possession of a valid second-class Power Engineers License as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.
   A minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in a comparable high pressure steam plant is required, with at least 5 years’ supervisory experience.
   Experience in administering regulations pertaining to the operation of an industrial utility plant would be an asset.
   Human Resource training or demonstrated experience.
   Project management experience.
   Confined Space experience.
   Ability to lead a team to create an atmosphere built on trust and respect.
