Function

This position is accountable to the Director, Special Projects & Administration in the Vice-President’s Office in Saint John. The Program Coordinator is one of several individuals responsible for coordinating the programs of the Promise Partnership. The Program Coordinator (outreach) would contribute to overall promise partnership programs interacting with students, parents, teachers, and others involved in the promise partnership programs.
Representative Responsibilities
·    Develop an Outreach Support Program for Promise Partnership Alumni. This will involve working closely with PSE institution to determine what supports are available to these students, and encouraging these students to take advantage of them.
·    Enhance the parental engagement aspect of the Promise Partnership as well as develop and deliver a parental engagement program.
·    Support the high school tutoring program. Supervising UNBSJ student tutors, and high school participants, offering tutoring support, assisting with logistics to run the program, etc.
·    Chart student progress after each session and keep in contact with other program coordinators to ensure efficient coordination of the program.
·    Assist with programming aimed at students whose first language is not English.
·    Work with grade 11 and 12 students to help promote and support applications to PSE institutions. Work with students to assist with applications for scholarships, bursaries, etc.
·    Administrative duties associated with developing and delivering programs such as, but not limited to, organizing transportation, food, preparing reports/documents, power points, etc.
·    Act as point person for logistics associated with promise partnership participation at community, or UNB-related events.
·    Must be able to work evenings, and weekends as required to be present to represent the promise partnership.
·    Provide data (qualitative and quantitative) to support the evaluation of this project as necessary. Collect data on K-12 programming to be used as part of program evaluation and monitoring.
Requirements
·    Bachelor of Education Degree preferred, however, a combination of training and experience may be considered.
·    Background in English as an additional language would be an asset.
·    Experience working with various constituent groups (parents, students, teachers, administrators, etc.)
·    Must be able to work flexible hours (Monday & Wednesday evenings) as well as some additional evening/weekends.
·    A clear criminal record check and Policy 701.
·    Strong interpersonal, organizational and administrative skills are required.
·    Knowledge of Anglophone South School District is an asset.
·    Ability to work in a team environment is crucial (as is the ability to work independently with little direction).
·    Excellent oral and written ability is a must.
·    Must be outgoing, personable and have “go-getter” mentality.
