Reporting directly to the Assistant Manager of Student Accounts & Receivable Services, the incumbent is responsible for various financial accounting duties and supervision of the Services Counter (primary payment receipting function) and is an integral part of the Student Accounts & Receivable Services operation. Utilizing knowledge of University policies and procedures, accounts receivables collection guidelines, Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) regulations and US Federal Loans and NB Student Loans procedures.
Representative Responsibilities
·    Manage the efficient operation of the Front Service Counter.
·    Act as first level assistance for full-time staff with regards to student questions that relate to policy issues, payment plans and providing solutions to any other issues that may arise.
·    Meet with students and/or parents to determine a financial plan for the payment of tuition fees.
·    Provide assistance to the College of Extended Learning, Registrar’s Office, Financial Aid Office and UNBSJ Business Office with student account problems and issues.
·    Liaise with Provincial Government Agencies and/or the National Student Loan Centre regarding questions/problems with student loans.
·    Compile and analyze data of past due accounts: work with external collection agencies.
·    This position works closely with the Manager of Student Accounts & Receivable Services on special projects related to the Financial Services environment.
·    High school graduation supplemented by post-secondary education. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
·    Minimum five years of related customer service and account management experience including some supervisory experience.
·    Experience in a high volume academic environment with an emphasis of student accounts is considered a definite asset.
·    Must organize and prioritize own work.
·    Knowledge of collection of accounts receivable guidelines, and Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) guidelines as they apply to taxable benefits are required.
·    Typing and keyboarding skills, knowledge of latest versions of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
·    Knowledge of University policies and procedures and Colleague Student module would be considered an asset.
·    Must be willing to participate in job-related courses for a computer-oriented and customer service environment.
