The Expanded Canadian High Arctic Ionospheric Network (ECHAIN) Senior Systems Analyst is responsible for development and ongoing management of data integration of the High Frequency (HF) Radar remote sensing research program into the existing ECHAIN database ensuing continuous availability to our industrial and government partners and other members within the international scientific community. The position will be the primary contact with our external partners accessing this data.
Representative Responsibilities
·    Participate in our partner – UNB scientific forums as a technical data resource.
·    Install and configure modules on the web server and integrate SSL support as needed.
·    Assist with the configuration of additional web service capabilities on ECHAIN server.
·    Build any custom code needed for security and rights management required by this contract, and integrate into web service code on ECHAIN servers.
·    Configure and schedule external routines that need to run on ECHAIN servers so as not to impact overall stability.
·    Direct development/maintenance of in-house software for interpretation of HF Radar data.
·    Institute version control and configuration management for in-house developed software.
·    Assist with ongoing maintenance of ECHAIN servers during testing with follow on production support.
·    Assist with main ECHAIN data acquisition, distribution, and scalable archiving system at UNB.
·    Install and test externally supplied programs and services on ECHAIN servers.
·    Work with Graduate Students/Co-op Students/Undergraduate Students in furthering their studies/research in regards to access and usability of data resources.
·    Providing local expertise to team members on the UNB node of High Performance Computing System ACEnet and other similar locations available within Canada.
·    Provide information on UNB requirements re: security, data transport, digital rights management etc. in conjunction with Scientific HR Radar Technician to external agencies.
·    Provide periodic detailed reports on milestones and deliverables as required by our partner.
·    University Degree in Physics, Computer Science or Engineering, with at least 3 to 5 years of experience. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
·    Experience with Linux operating system preferable; strong knowledge of web based applications and web servers; and demonstrated experience in system administration, database management or equivalent experience (5 years Minimum).
·    Ability to work independently while at the same time participating as an effective member in a team with different skill sets and be capable of working on a variety of projects while coordinating multiple priorities.
·    Strong problem solving skills, strong organizational skills as well as good verbal and written communications skills.
·    Ability to interact and communicate with a diverse group of clients; sensitivity to cultural difference and issues.
·    Experience with software development in an HPC environment would be an asset.
