Function

This position reports to the Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Management (FOREM) and the Faculty of Kinesiology and has a mandate to provide IT support for faculty, staff, and students.
 
Forestry and Environment Management has three computer teaching laboratories. These laboratories not only provide the general Microsoft suite but also have licenses for specialized software such as GIS (ArcGIS), Modelling (Stella), Remote Sensing (PCI), and Forest Management and Operations software (Remsoft, PRCalculator, Mosek), Statistics (SPSS, Minitab, Quick Silver ®). There are also two student project rooms that are equipped with computers, smartboards and printers.
 
Kinesiology has four units: the academic program, recreational services, Kinesiology Facilities, and Varsity Athletics. The academic program has two student commons areas; two teaching laboratories; one computer laboratory and five research facilities. 
Representative Responsibilities
·    Responsible for the troubleshooting of computer equipment determining if there is a hardware, software or network problem and determine corrective measures.
·    Install, upgrade and/or replace hardware and software, computer components and accessories.
·    Communicate with suppliers regarding licensing and service maintenance agreements.
·    Sign out equipment to staff and students.
·    Provide support setting up projectors or uploading presentations.
·    Make recommendations of upgrades and purchases as related to software and hardware.
·    Coordinate hardware and software purchases between the Faculties
·    Prepare applications for student tech fee funding.
·    Maintain IT inventory of all printers, computer licensing software, and other related equipment.
·    Provide website and display board support.
·    Work on special projects with communications and marketing personnel to increase the visibility of the Faculty’s programs and activities.
·    Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
·    Computer Technician diploma or equivalent is required and/or a combination of experience and education.
·    3 years of related experience with a strong background in computer technology including support and maintenance.
·    Excellent oral, communication and multi-tasking skills.
·    Experience with website and digital display board maintenance and multimedia communication would be assets.
