The Department of Civil Engineering at the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton campus, invites applications for an Associate Professor, tenure-track position with qualifications in the area of Structural Engineering who will act as Department Chair. The position is to commence January 1, 2014.
The successful applicant is expected to become Chair of the Department for a 5-year (renewable) term. The Chair is responsible for leadership and administration of the Department, working with faculty, staff, and students to deliver excellent educational programs and research at a comprehensive Canadian university.  Specific duties are outlined in Article 18A of the UNB-AUNBT Collective Agreement found at

The successful applicant will be required to teach selected undergraduate and graduate courses in structural engineering, including structural analysis and structural steel design, to supervise graduate students and to establish and maintain an externally-funded research program. Current research infrastructure to support this position includes a two story structural testing lab with strong-floor, hydraulic loading systems and additional facilities for materials and small scale testing. The potential to collaborate with other research groups in the Department and the University will be considered an asset. 
Applicants will have a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or a closely related field with demonstrated excellence in teaching and research. Applicants should be eligible and willing to register as a Professional Engineer in New Brunswick. Industry experience in structural engineering is desirable.
