FACULTY OF ARTS
INSTRUCTOR AND COORDINATOR, INTERNSHIPS AND EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING
 
The Faculty of Arts at the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, New Brunswick (Canada), invites applications for a 9-month term appointment as Instructor and Coordinator of Internships and Experiential Learning, to start October 1, 2017, subject to final budgetary approval.
 
Applicants are expected to have a PhD (completed or near completion) in the Social Sciences or Humanities. The position is designed for an individual with university level teaching experience, outstanding writing, editing and communication skills, and an ability to work with and mentor students with a wide range of academic interests and abilities. Experience working with community organizations and an understanding of work environments in private, public, and non-profit sectors would be an asset.
 
The successful candidate will be expected to teach the equivalent of 4 Arts undergraduate internship courses as well as coordinate the internship program involving the following responsibilities:
 
·    Organize internship placements in consultation with the Faculty of Arts Internship Committee.
·    Work with community partners to develop and maintain placements for Faculty of Arts students.
·    Select students for internship placements in consultation with the Faculty.
·    Coordinate the pedagogical content of the internship in consultation with the Faculty of Arts Internship Committee.
·    Promote the Faculty of Arts internship program among UNB faculty members, the student body, UNB and the community.
·    Work with Student Engagement, Communications and Research Support Officer in promotion and development of internship and experiential learning opportunities.
·    Advise the Dean and Associate Deans on matters of internships and experiential learning.
·    Identify areas for development and enhancement of internships and experiential learning.
·    Work with Departments in Arts to develop graduate level internship opportunities.
