The Department of Psychology at the University of New Brunswick in Saint John, N.B., invites applications for a tenure track position in Experimental Psychology at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2018. This position subject to final budgetary approval.
The Department offers undergraduate programs in Psychology and Biology Psychology as well as a Master of Arts in Experimental Psychology and a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology (offered jointly with the Department of Psychology at UNB’s Fredericton Campus). In addition, Saint John faculty actively participate in the Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology offered in Fredericton. The Department has a strong background in experimental/applied psychology and solid links with community and government organizations interested in collaborating on research agendas and knowledge mobilization, such as Horizon Health Network (which includes the local regional hospital), the New Brunswick Department of Justice and Public Safety, and Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick. Collaborative research with colleagues in these adjoining institutions may be possible. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Psychology, specializing in any area of general or applied experimental psychology; however, priority will be given to someone who specializes in learning, memory, language, or cognition.
The successful candidate will teach a range of undergraduate courses, including Introductory Psychology, Memory, Learning, Neuropsychology, Research Methods, and other upper year courses, including a senior seminar or lab course in their area of specialization. In addition, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop a graduate seminar. The supervision of undergraduate and graduate students will be required. The teaching load is normally four courses (12 credit hours) over the fall and winter terms.
