Curriculum Context

INFO3403 is a core course for the Bachelor of Information Systems degree program, and is a technical elective course for Bachelor of Computer Science and Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering  students. This course is normally taken by students in third or fourth year, with a prerequisite of INFO1103 and 60 credit hours, which equates to approximately two years of full-time study. CS3413 is recommended to be taken prior to this course.


Course Description

Topics include: internal database structure; query evaluation and optimization; transaction management and concurrency control; database recovery; distributed and parallel database architectures; physical database design; performance tuning and capacity planning; database administration; technical architecture design and systems integration. 

Prerequisite: ( INFO 1103 or INFO 2103 ) and 60 ch ( CS 3413 recommended).



Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge of the subject matter and relevant experience with teaching or professional presentations.  Professional IT-related experience is a strong plus.
