Maureen Dick   2004 UNB Service Award Recipient

This award recognizes Maureen Dick's service over more than 25 years to the Faculty of Law and to all of the members of our community including faculty, staff, students and graduates. She has brought an exceptional level of professionalism, dedication, discipline and discretion to her work. She is simply outstanding in every respect, and is someone who is very deserving of recognition.

Ms. Dick is very knowledgeable about all aspects of the operation of the Faculty of Law and the faculty is dependent upon her expertise. In addition to the day-to-day requirements of the job, Ms. Dick is actively involved in the success of the faculty in a number of ways. She is very much involved in public relations with our external community and particularly our graduates, and helps to produce and design not only our graduate publication Nexus but also keeps our Web site up to date through our "News and Events" page. She is also active in planning and organizing our twice-annual graduate reunions in cities across Canada and the event surrounding our Distinguished Graduate Award.

Ms. Dick has also distinguished herself in relations with students. She is actively involved in planning and coordinating our Orientation program and meets regularly with our student organizations to ensure the smooth operation of the faculty and student programs. She is also the person who has organized many of our more public events - those which have a tremendous impact upon our relationship with the local and University communities.

In sum, we all agree that Ms. Dick is an extraordinary person and central to the success of this faculty. Anyone who comes into contact with Ms. Dick knows that they are in good hands. Her quiet sense of confidence and her abilities are a source of great inspiration, and we are proud to have her as a member of our community.
