Bruce Kilburn   2003 UNB Service Award Recipient

Bruce Kilburn knows a lot about the University of New Brunswick in Saint John. He is an alumus of UNBSJ having received a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honours in Sociology and a Major in Psychology. Bruce is one of the most versatile and knowledgeable of UNB's employees having been employed by nine different departments: Integrated Technology Services, Applied Statistics and Computer Science, Housing and Food Services, Information Services and Systems, Electronic Commerce Centre, Registrar's Office, Community Relations, Financial and Administrative Services, and Student Services.

Why was Bruce Kilburn hired for all of these different positions? The one common underlying requirement is customer service, and Bruce is nothing short of great when it comes to satisfying the customer. Ask people on campus and you will hear stories of how Bruce handles customers with a combination of knowledge, tact and an easy-going, friendly personality.

Bruce has the reputation of "going the extra mile" and making every effort to satisfy a client. He often puts in extra hours and works on solutions during his "spare time". Bruce has been involved in many campus activities outside of work. He has served on many committees both as an employee and student and is involved in fund-raising and social activities. As a student he was the VP Social, News Director of the student radio station, Chair of the Frosh Week Committee, and the Co-chair of the Task Force on the Quality of Student Life. Bruce has often been a volunteer for the United Way Campaign and served as Co-chair in 2000.

Bruce Kilburn has been a student, alumnus and employee with the character, determination and resourcefulness that UNB is proud to be associated with.
