Locker Rooms

Members have free access to day-use lockers both at the CURRIE CENTER and the LB Gym and are advised not to leave their belongings in it overnight as all day-use lockers will be cleaned out at the end of the day. A $10.00 clean-out fee will be levied to the member if he/she wishes to claim his/her belongings.

Lockers are also available for rent on a 4-month or annual basis both at The Richard J. CURRIE CENTER and the Lady Beaverbrook Gymnasium. The expiration date is calculated a full year or 4-months from the date of the initial effective date respectively. Take advantage of the added convenience of not having to lug your stuff back and forth!

Towels

Towel service is an added service for members who don’t want to bring towels back and forth to the gym. For an additional fee, we will provide you with a clean towel to use. Stop by the Membership Services desk at the CURRIE CENTER or LB Gym for more information.

Parking

Parking permits are required to park on campus from Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Parking permits for the Richard J CURRIE CENTER lot is available to our community members at a rate of $15/term or $40/year. These permits can be purchased at our membership services desk on the ground floor of the CURRIE CENTER. Faculty/Staff and Students are required to purchase their parking permits through UNB Security & Traffic located in the basement of the Wu Conference Centre.

Please note that a parking permit does not guarantee a parking space as parking is subject to availability. Please ensure that your permit is clearly displayed.

Equipment Sign-Out

For your convenience, URec signs out sporting equipment to members at the Membership Services Desk. Your membership card must be shown at the desk when signing out items.

Items available to sign out:

  • Basketballs
  • Volleyballs
  • Soccer balls
  • Rugby balls
  • Footballs
  • Ball hockey equipment (including sticks, helmets, balls, goalie equipment)
  • Badminton rackets
  • Table tennis paddles
  • Agility ladders
  • Conditioning ropes
  • Boxing gloves

TRX Suspension Training

We have TRX systems available for members to use on the second floor at the end of the indoor track. The TRX Suspension Trainer is a workout system that leverages gravity and your bodyweight to perform hundreds of exercises. You're in control of how much you want to challenge yourself on each exercise - because you can simply adjust your body position to add or decrease resistance.

Speed Bag and Heavy Bag

We have a speed bag and heavy bag available for members to use on the second floor at the end of the indoor track. Boxing gloves are also available to sign out at the membership services desk.

Orientation

Are you new to the Strength Centre and unsure of how to use the equipment? Then sign-up for your FREE orientation. One of our knowledgeable and friendly Strength Centre Supervisors can show you how to safely and effectively use all the equipment in both the Strength Centre and Free Weight Room. Orientation sign-up is located at the main desk in the third floor Strength Centre.

Tours

We offer free tours of our facilities by request. Stop by the membership services desk on the ground floor of the CURRIE CENTER whenever is convenient for you for more information or call us at 453-4579!

Personal Training and Testing

The Sun Life Financial Fitness Assessment Centre is a facility housed by UNB Recreation Services  promoting health and wellness to all individuals. Our Centre is led by a CSEP- Certified Exercise Physiologist® and CSEP-Certified Personal Trainers®. We conduct various job-related fitness tests for a multitude of organizations and offer personal training programs based on your fitness goals. We are also a Physical Ability Requirement Evaluation (PARE) testing site for the RCMP and Municipal Police Forces. For more information check out the Personal Training and Testing page!

Do you want to show off your URec Pride? Or perhaps you forgot your workout shirt or water bottle at home? Fear not, because we have you covered. Stop by the membership services desk on the ground floor of the CURRIE CENTER to purchase a t-shirt (two styles to choose from), water bottle, or gym bag! We also have Gift Certificates available to anyone to purchase in any denomination.
