Crisis support

988 Suicide Crisis Helpline: Call or text for mental health and suicide prevention support. Free and accessable 24/7.

CHIMO Help Line: Provincial crisis phone line (1-800-667-5005), accessible 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to all residents of New Brunswick.

Kids Help Phone: Canada’s only 24/7 e-mental health service offering free, confidential support to young people (under the age of 20) in English and French.

Hope for Wellness Helpline: Offers immediate mental health counselling and crisis intervention to all indigenous people across Canada (1-855-242-3310).

Crisis Services Canada: Provides suicide prevention and support to the people of Canada.

Wellness Together Canada: Mental health and substance use support. Always free and virtual, 24/7.


Sexual Violence New Brunswick: If you’ve been affected by sexual violence, there are people who can help. When you are ready, SVNB has services and programs that can provide support, information, and options.

Campus Sexual Assault Support Advocates: Specially trained individuals to support students who have experienced sexual violence. They can offer trauma-specific counselling as well as help you report an incident, arrange accommodations, seek medical help and much more.


Mobile Crisis Unit: Provides a range of crisis intervention services in a timely and effective manner in the person’s own environment or the environment of their choice.

Medical services

Tele-Care 811: If you are unsure about a medical problem, contact Tele-Care anytime by dialling 8-1-1. They can help you figure out your next steps.

eVisitNB: See a New Brunswick Nurse Practitioner or Doctor online by video, phone or messaging consultation.

After-Hours Clinics: If a doctor/Nurse Practitioner is not available, you can visit an After-Hours/Walk-In Clinic to be seen about your symptoms.

Pharmacies: You can discuss your medical condition with a pharmacist by phone or in person, without an appointment.


If you are not eligible to be seen at the UNB Student Health Centre, or won't be in the future, it's a good idea to register with Patient Connect NB or call Tele-Care at 8-1-1.

Patient Connect NB is a provincially managed, bilingual patient registry for New Brunswickers without a primary health care provider (family doctor or nurse practitioner).


UNB Counselling Services: Counselling Services provides a range of free, confidential short-term mental health services to undergraduate and graduate students from UNB and STU who are registered in a degree program.
