CHEM 4222/6222 TOPICS IN MODERN INORGANIC AND PHYSICALCHEMISTRY CREDIT: 2 CH (CHEM 4222); 3 CH (CHEM 6222)
OUTLINE: The course will cover recent advances or topical areas in inorganic and physical chemistry, selected from the attached list.
CONTENT: Each week, one student will be assigned a topic to research in detail, and will present a 30 minute (CHEM 4222) or 40 minute (CHEM 6222) seminar on this topic, followed by questions from the audience. All other students in the class will be expected to read the introductory reference(s), and to answer questions or assignments set on the topic after the seminar presentation.
ASSESSMENT: Each student will be assessed on the presentation and content of his/her seminar and answers to questions arising from the presentation (50%), and on the written answers and course work set after each presentation (50%).
The following assessment scale will be used for grading: A+ (90-100%); A (85-89.9%); A– (80-84.9%); B+ (74-79.9%); B (68-73.9%); B– (62-67.9%); C+ (56-61.9%); C (50-55.9%); D (40-49.9%); F (<40%)
