Andreas Decken, Ph.D.My laboratory is involved in the determination of molecular
structures of small organic and inorganic molecules employing X-ray
crystallographic techniques. The study of electron density distribution
allows us to interpret and even predict the chemical behaviour of
compounds. Theoretical methods are used to gain insight into unusual
bonding modes, including multiple bonds and
-electron
delocalization involving heavy main group and transition-metal atoms.
Recent research ventures include the synthesis and characterization of
hetero-indenes and-fluorenes. These novel compounds will be used as
ligands in organometallic compounds.
