Chemistry Graduate Teaching Assistants

Graduate teaching assistants perform an important role in the safe and effective delivery of our undergraduate programmes and teaching experience is a valuable component in the professional development of graduate students. Therefore, all graduate students in chemistry who do not hold major scholarships (i.e., tricouncil scholarships and other scholarships providing funding equal to or greater than the normal total graduate student stipend), are expected to perform one unit (104 h / term) of graduate teaching assistantship in each Fall and Winter term in which they receive financial support. Graduate students holding major scholarships who wish experience as teaching assistants may also receive graduate teaching assistantships, subject to the conditions of their scholarship, teaching needs of the department and availability of funds.

Approved at the Chemistry departmental meeting of 6 February 2008.
