The Excellence in Teaching Award
The Excellence in Teaching Award recognizes excellence and contributions in teaching. Candidates may be anyone who has taught, or is teaching, at least one semester course in the science faculty and receive at least two letters of nomination. Individual students, classes, student associations, faculty members and alumni of UNB can recommend candidates to the Awards Committee of the Faculty of Science.
Nominations are accepted at the Office of the Dean of Science, Room 109, IUC Physics Building several weeks before our Annual Awards and Dean’s List Reception in the fall. Acknowledgement and presentation to the recipient occurs at this event. Nominations should be based on personal knowledge of the candidate’s teaching skills and abilities, outline reasons for the nomination and provide evidence for assessment.
Nomination forms can be filled out and printed here or picked up at the Dean's Office.

Staff Excellence Award
Staff Excellence Award recognizes the outstanding contributions made by our Support Staff every day that enrich the Faculty. They play a very important role in helping the Faculty achieve its reputation for first rate education with strong attention to the needs of our students, and world class research.
The attention to detail, planning, record keeping, office work, the warm smiles that welcome our students, the assistance given to students when they are in need, the technical excellence that assists in making research possible, and many other tasks performed by our Support Staff are essential to our overall success.
Nominations can be for one or more members of the support staff (anyone other than people who hold Professor or Instructor rank). Nominations can be made by students, staff and faculty. Nominations are accepted at the Office of the Dean of Science, Room 109, IUC Physics Building several weeks before our Annual Awards and Dean’s List Reception in the fall. Acknowledgement and presentation to the recipient occurs at this event.
The Faculty of Science selection committee would like to hear detailed reasons for your nomination. The primary criterion is the excellence of the contribution made, but you may wish to address such matters as interpersonal skills and team spirit, efficiency, reliability and creativity, attitude and enthusiasm, and ability to manage change and transition. The nomination could be based on particular contributions of note or on a long term contribution over an entire career.
