About the HouseMacKenzie House

Located in the centre of campus, MacKenzie House was opened in 1965 and has been showing the fierce pride of the Scottish clan from which the house takes its name ever since. A co-ed house consisting of approximately 95 students, MacKenzie house is unique in that represents both Scottish and Newfoundland heritages. MacKenzie is unique in that we have three different lounges, one being an exercise lounge, another being a games lounge and our main lounge which houses a huge projection screen to watch movies and TV with a group of your friends. We are also one of the only two houses on campus to have a squash court where you can also play basketball and dodge ball.  MacKenzie House is known for celebrating and appreciating everyone's differences and our residents are known for being athletic, social and close with one another.

House Charity

MacKenzie's House Charity is Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fredericton-Oromocto. Their annual charity event is Caber Toss. Held each October, MacKenzie's Caber Toss is a version of the traditional Highland game, where participants must throw a caber and have it land as straight as possible in relation to the clock on the top of the Res Admin building.

House Trivia

One of our main and most looked-forward to events is our annual Newfie Night, where MacKenzie residents don their best Newfoundland attire and get screeched-in in true Newfie fashion
