Filling out the paperwork
This page contains most of the forms you will need as a resident at UNB. Other forms and policies, like the Residence Agreement and Handbook, can found in the pane on the right side of the page.
End of Fall Term Extension/Holiday Residence Application
Near the end of the fall term a “Closing Notice” will be distributed to all students via campus mail. The notice will specify the dates by which students must leave residence (within 24 hours after completing your last exam). All residents must vacate their rooms during the Holiday / Christmas Break.
Need to stay a bit longer due to course commitments or flight itinerary? Review the End of Term Extension/Holiday Residence Application. This online application must be submitted no later than 4:00pm on Monday, November 19th, 2012. This application will be made available once closing notices have been distributed to students via campus mail.
Residents unable to return home and who qualify to remain in residence during the holiday period must apply at the Residence Office Front Desk for permission to stay in accordance with instructions contained in the closing notice. Students granted permission to remain in residence during the Christmas Break will be required to move to another room for the duration of the holiday and will also be required to pay $25/day up to $200 Holiday Residence Fee.
Please note that the UNB Residential Life office only has access to the exam schedule for UNB undergraduate students. All other residents (Education, Law, STU, NBCC, NBCCD) will receive a letter that specifies their last exam as the last date of classes (December 5th, 2012). To ensure we are aware of your extended stay needs, please complete this online reservation form. Extended stay requests for academic purposes will not be denied.
Application & Deposit
Both new and returning students need to fill out an application. New students can find the application form in eServices under the residence tab, once they receive notice that they are accepted to UNB. Returning students can fill out the application for RETURNING students. The reapplication varies slightly from the application for new students, so be sure you're looking at the right form.
As well, don't forget to fill out the residence room deposit form, which is the same for both returners and new students. We can't assign you a room unless you pay the $300 deposit. This deposit acts a down-payment on your room and needs to be paid every year that you live in residence.
Special Room Consideration Application
Do you require special consideration when assigning a room for medical reasons? If so, please fill a Special Room Consideration Form, and submit it with your application to residence.
Roommate Relations Handbook & Contract
Having a roommate is often a positive experience; however, at certain stress-filled times throughout the year (like exams, midterms, papers, etc.), a roommate can often add to the stress. That's why it's important early in the year to discuss with your roommate (and come to an agreement upon) things which can sometimes cause conflict, such as house keeping, guests, relaying messages, and quiet time. To help with this sometimes awkward conversation, we have put together a short handbook on roommate relations, which includes a sample "contract" which covers those areas of Roommate Relations which can sometimes cause conflict between roommates: Roommate Relations Handbook & Contract
Bed Removal
Students will no longer be able to request to have any of their current furniture, including their bed or any spare bed (in the case of super singles with two beds) removed from their room. Residential Life no longer has storage available for this purpose or the staff available to dedicate to this process. Exceptions will be made when medically necessary and individuals should contact our front desk 453-4800 to make these requests.
Special Bed Request
Due to limited storage space and a limited number of loft and bunk beds, we will no longer be offering special bed requests. If you have any questions about this, please contact our front desk staff at 453-4800.
